Going into March Madness, Caitlin Clark is red hot after breaking the NCAA scoring record announcing NIL deals with Gainbridge and Panini

Caitlin Clark Is Having The Best Month Ever

Who's having a better month than Caitlin Clark? After breaking the NCAA scoring record on Sunday and declaring for the WNBA draft, two NIL deals with financial company Gainsbridge Sports and trading card company Panini were announced.

Terms of both deals were not revealed. On3 currently ranks Clark #4 with a NIL evaluation of 3.1 million. I'm not entirely sold that this wave of deals is done for Clark as we approach the NCAA tournament that will feature a plethora of stars in college women's basketball.

Wait. What? 10 Million? Did I See That Right?

Kalyn Kahler at The Athletic reported that "between NIL money and endorsements, Caleb made millions in his final two seasons at USC, with multiple sources putting the number around $10 million."

This is what I envisioned NIL could do for a player who does everything right on the field and has the right team around him off the field. This is just the beginning. After the court ruling on last Friday where a federal judge barred the NCAA from enforcing its rules prohibiting name, image and likeness compensation for recruits by granting a preliminary injunction demanded by the states of Tennessee and Virginia.

Say whatever you will about Caleb Williams. In this wild market age of NIL where evaluations are usually overhyped and underperforming, Caleb Williams bet on himself and boosted his stock going into the 2024 NFL draft.
